The term massage as we’ve come to know it in the West is an inadequate characterization of this modality. Thai massage is a multifaceted bodywork system that includes therapeutic stretching, joint mobilization, rhythmic deep tissue compression, toning of energy lines, acupressure, assisted hatha yoga poses, mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation. For this reason, you may see it referred to as Thai Yoga Massage. All of these combine to promote an opening of the entire body thus balancing energy and creating a wholeness of mind, body and spirit.

Thai Massage For Health & Well-being
If you’re interested in feeling your best and improving your health, then Thai Massage is for you!  This unique therapy may share some similarities to other massage techniques, but it really is in a class of its own.  Read on to see for yourself what Thai Massage can do for you.

What Is Traditional Thai Massage?
Thai Massage is a form of bodywork which originated in India and later migrated to Thailand. Thai Massage is also known as “passive yoga” or “Lazy Man’s Yoga” providing the recipient with gentle stretching movements and compressions resulting in a unique experience with relaxing and energizing results. This ancient style of bodywork is performed with the recipient in a passive relaxed state, fully clothed on a thick, comfortable floor matting system.

What to Expect
Thai Massage is performed on a thickly padded floor mat with the receiver in loose, comfortable clothing. The massage positions include: seated, supine (lying on your back), side lying, and prone (face down).

An ingenious system of movements allows the therapist to manipulate the receiver with little effort. The client is moved through each position by the practitioner. One has the feeling of being a floppy rag doll. Every movement is designed to support the receiver at all times.

The massage is given in silence to allow the therapist to understand the client and to give the receiver a chance to focus and learn about himself without distraction. To give and to experience Thai Massage is a meditative practice, at the end of a treatment, both the receiver and the therapist will feel relaxed and energized.

For the observer, Thai Massage is a well choreographed dance of gentle rocking motion in a harmonious flow of movement. For the receiver, it is what many experienced western massage therapists consider to be the most therapeutic modality with the most long-lasting effects.

Receiving Traditional Thai Yoga Massage Therapy on a regular basis promotes stress reduction, wellness and an overall sense of well-being. Begin the road to health and vitality by experiencing this unique form of ancient bodywork. Your body will thank you and your family and friends will notice the difference that Thai Massage will make.
